Friday (08/08/08)
N and I met up for dinner at Shaw Towers. We initially wanted to go to Ah Loy Thai, this really good authentic and affordable Thai food place. Unfortunately, even though we got there at 7.40pm, they were not taking any more new orders! Bah.

Anyhow, we went to the nearby Japanese / Korean casual restaurant, where we had salmon sashimi, agedashi tofu, torikatsu don and paper hotpot thing (what's it called again?). The best part was that I think the whole meal was less than $30 for the both of us. :D

It's quite a pity that they didn't really have customers although their food was really quite good and decently priced. I guess the decor and some marketing could do a little better, but with food, who cares where you're eating at! Hohoho.

Dessert was at where else but.... Tom's Palette! Hi Chronos! Thanks for recognising us! :Þ
You should really check their ice creams out if you're ever near Bugis / Suntec City. Yes, it's a little out of the way, but you're just a 10 minute walk from a taste of heaven. Hahaha.

The chocolate, salted caramel cheesecake, apple pie, peanut butter and vanilla are my favourites, just because of my preference I guess. N loves their salted caramel cheesecake, wasabi lime, longan red date and apple pie flavours.

No matter what flavour, the texture of the ice creams are consistently thick, dense and chewy - the signs of handmade quality ice creams. The best part is that there's no artificial flavourings and if you're having say... Tangerine, it really feels you're eating an orange in an ice-cream form. Love it when they have bits and pieces of the real stuff in their ice creams. The best part that it's seriously affordable for the power-packed goodness you're getting. $2.50 for a small cup and you can mix and match 2 flavours! :D~~~~~

Tom's Palette is seriously good stuff, and a hidden gem that more people should make an effort to visit. They come up with seasonal flavours and not just your everyday too-sweet standards. K this sounds like an advertorial, but it's not! It's aiyah, too good to miss! It sure beats another ice cream outlets at Serene Centre, River Valley (I'm not telling where!) and even Hagen Dazs hands down! :D

Hmm since they're experimenting with a really wacky flavour for next month... I'm suggesting pear and water-chestnut sorbet? N suggest CHOYA ice cream. Haha I have no idea whether it'll work. Who knows!

Saturday (09/08/08)
Met N in the late afternoon to accompany me to the Malay Heritage Centre. Brought him on a little heritage tour around Kampong Glam and he was like a school kid on an excursion. Haha.

We also went to the Muslim / Malay cemeteries at Victoria Street and they sure feel like islands trapped in time! Everything felt very still and quiet and spooky. The nearby Malabar mosque looked like a little doll's house, with lovely blue tiles speckled with bits of gold ones that randomly shine as you walk past it. Simply lovely!

From there we headed to Seah Street to check out the Freitag Bonanza which I mentioned in my previous post. I liked the size, and it was pretty comfortable, but it was retailing for $379.
I'm still deciding. Ho hum... Can more people please vote on my little poll in the column on the right?

After dinner at Suntec, we went back to where else but Tom's Palette for some ice creamy goodness. That was when Mr Chronos mentioned his appreciation for my previous blog post about their ice cream parlour. Oops! I didn't realise I'd be found out! Hehe

Alright, I have to get back to my readings. Gah!!
Till later!
